Mission Statement
Global Citizen’s mission is to end extreme poverty. To achieve this, we use the Global Goals, a global plan that outlines how we can end extreme poverty, reduce inequality, and tackle climate change NOW, as a template. DEFEAT POVERTY: In the ongoing pandemic, extreme poverty is rising for the first time since the 1990s — and we can’t tackle that unless every person has access to good health care, nutritional food, and quality education. DEFEND THE PLANET: The world’s poorest and most vulnerable people are impacted by the changing climate first and hardest. A healthy planet means healthier lives, everywhere. Global Citizen aims to reduce the amount of overall emissions in the atmosphere and fast-track governments’ and corporations’ adoption of planet-friendly policies. DEMAND EQUITY: The world has major strides to make before every person has a fair shot at opportunity, regardless of gender, race, legal status, or sexual orientation.
About This Cause
Global Citizen is the world's largest movement of action takers and impact makers dedicated to ending extreme poverty NOW. With over 11 million monthly advocates, our voices have the power to drive lasting change around sustainability, equality, and humanity. We post, tweet, message, vote, sign, and call to inspire those who can make things happen to act — government leaders, businesses, philanthropists, artists, and citizens — together improving lives. By downloading our app, Global Citizens learn about the systemic causes of extreme poverty, take action on those issues, and earn rewards with tickets to concerts, events, and experiences all over the world. To date, the actions of our community, along with high-level advocacy efforts and work with partners, has resulted in $41.4 billion in funds disbursed, impacting the lives of over 1 billion people.
