Mission Statement

The mission of RCIL is to ensure a fully accessible, integrated society that enables full participation by people with disabilities. RCIL promotes a dynamic environment where society and the individual mutually benefit from a world with no limits by achieving excellence in consumer-controlled, self-directed services in programs, education, advocacy, research, and information retrieval and dissemination.

About This Cause

RCIL is a non-profit, disability rights and service organization with a central office in Utica and satellite offices in Amsterdam, Herkimer, Utica (Genesee Street), and Watertown, New York. The mission of the agency is to promote full access and equal participation in society for individuals with disabilities. Incorporated in 1983, RCIL contributes to the advancement of human rights in New York State by providing consumer-controlled services and advocacy for systemic change to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities. RCIL employs a comprehensive array of high-quality, person-centered, independent living services driven by personal choice and respect for each person’s right to make his/her own decisions. Service programs include advocacy, benefits counseling, elderly services, employment services, home- and community-based services, case management, youth services, and information and referral services.
