Mission Statement

Lillie Mae Frances Foundation Inc. (LMF) is a non-profit, organized in 2005 and operated exclusively for charitable purposes in Atlanta, GA and the surrounding metro-communities. Our mission is to aid individuals with developing and improving their capabilities, and provide support and advocacy for adults, children, families and other vulnerable social groups.

About This Cause

Lillie Mae Frances Foundation, Inc. facilitates multiple community focused programs. Our 1st program is entitled Open Arms. Established in 2005, this program allows LMF to provide care packages such as toiletries, blanket, and coats (based on season) to distressed and homeless men, women, children, and families. This is an on-going, monthly event. This effort is promoted by e-mail, flyers/postcards, word of mouth, and the assistance of volunteers and anticipated partners. This program enables us to provide necessary support by meeting the urgent, short-term needs of homeless individuals. Our 2nd program is entitled The Bag of Courage. Established in May 2020, on a bi-monthly basis, LMF procures, assembles, and delivers “care packages” for women, men and families that have been exposed to domestic abuse, or who may be experiencing a life changing event as a result of attempting to escape a domestic abuse situation. This program not only provides the basic essentials needed to reorganize and restart their lives, but also provides resources and referrals to other community organizations which specialize in domestic abuse and counseling. Our 3rd program is entitled Loving our Children. Initiated in November of 2019, this program focuses on supporting the parents of children fighting cancer. To date, LMF has worked with the AFLAC Cancer Center to provided 54 families with children with “Rest and Relax” care packages, consisting of snacks, crossword puzzles, toiletries, and inspirational messages. This effort allows for the parent(s) to engage in self-care and stress relief while visiting their children during Chemo Treatments and other hospital stays. Our 4th program is entitled The Workforce Education Project. (Initially established in 2005, this program was relaunched in September 2020) Within this program, LMF provides hands-on-training of professional skills and resources and for individuals who are trying to enter, or reenter, the workforce. This program’s curriculum includes assistance with resume writing, completing job applications, interviewing skills, dress for success, job search and various administrative skills. The intent of this program is to bolster self-esteem within vulnerable individuals, and to empower them to become self-sufficient. Our 5th program is entitled Mental Wellness. This program focuses on destigmatizing mental health and promotes open, honest conversations about ongoing mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. On a weekly basis, LMF and collaborating mental health professionals hosts a free, virtual group session, which provides a safe space for participants to receive psychoeducation, support and mental health resources. On a monthly basis, we present a topic focused session, in collaboration with licensed professionals, to provide insight and support targeted to those with specific needs. LMF plans to expand this program to included mental health screenings, podcasts, blogs, and corporate/school seminars, which will focus on helping individuals with identifying and coping with stress and providing assistance in the development and maintenance of personalized wellness plans. Our goal, by utilizing a strength-based approach, is to empower individuals to be their very best self and improve their overall daily functioning. Our 6th program is entitled Community Cares. Launched in 2023, this program promotes awareness, understanding, and advocacy for individuals within the LGBTQ+ community. Supports provided, virtually or in person, include: a Teen Support Circle for LGBTQ+ Youth, a LGBTQ+ Adult Support Circle, and a Parent Support Circle for Parents of LGBTQ+ Children. This program intends to build awareness, provide resources, and create a safe environment which celebrates diversity of all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, with dignity and compassion. Oversight, Marketing, and Funding The foundation’s officers and directors organize, implement, and oversee all programs. Volunteers are qualified through an application process and a probationary period of no less than two weeks. Organizational directors work closely with all volunteers to ensure program efficiency, and alliance to the organization’s mission. Our programs are marketed consistently, utilizing social media, email lists, flyers/postcards, and personal networking. Sustainability is ensured with charitable donations and fundraising events. Through the successful execution of our programs, we further our mission of coaching individuals for the purpose of improving or developing their capabilities, educating the public on subjects useful to the individual and beneficial to the community, and providing relief to the distressed displaced, and underserved.
