Mission Statement

The mission of Casa Guadalupana: to offer a welcoming place that affirms the dignity of each person. We provide a safe and supportive home to achieve safety and stability for individuals and families-especially women and children-going through the asylum process.

About This Cause

Casa is housed in a 6800 sq. foot, thoroughly updated home built in 1895, consisting of 8 bedrooms, a large kitchen. several large gathering areas, multiple washers and dryers, a workout area and a relatively large yard. Casa is within easy reach of multiple services - health, educational, social services and is on the city's transit line. Casa works with the International Institute of Minnesota, The Advocates for Human Rights and the Center for Victims of Torture to ensure that our guests have legal, emotional and psychological support. Casa's guests have been determined to have a probable cause for the granting of asylum. Casa does not charge guests and works with them through the acquisition of their work permit, asylum hearing and supports their movement to independence within the community. Casa relies on a variety of volunteers to support and assist our guests. Among them is a retired attorney who has been most helpful. Casa was the recipient of the Ignation Volunteer Corps Robert Hobbins Community Service Award "for its outstanding efforts providing a safe and supportive home to achieve safety and stability for individuals and families who have been forced to flee their homes due to war and persecution and are seeking asylum in the United States"
