About This Cause
Special Reach is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children with developmental delays and their families by bridging gaps in the community. Our year-round programs are inclusive, creative, and designed to offer real respite to caregivers. With a team of highly qualified professionals, including a nurse practitioner and mental health counselor, we focus on helping each child reach their developmental milestones while fostering their mental and physical well-being. Our signature programs include weekly "Party Night" sessions, which provide fun, themed events like Homecoming, Valentine’s, and Prom—experiences often missed by children with disabilities. The San Antonio Adventure Program offers exciting activities during school breaks, and our Summer Social Club and five-day summer programs feature inclusive experiences such as horseback riding and community events. These programs ensure structure and supervision during school breaks and are led by mandated reporters for safety. Through one-on-one interactions with trained adult and school-age volunteers, children build social bonds with their peers and combat social stigma. Our volunteers gain valuable skills in caregiving and leadership, and our alumni return to inspire younger children as positive role models. We are committed to removing barriers to access, offering scholarships, transportation assistance, registration support, and literacy resources to ensure that every child can participate in our life-changing programs.
