About This Cause
Stay Curious. Dig Deeper. Get your hands dirty. City Growers is an educational nonprofit based in New York City. Our programs close fundamental gaps in the experiences of city kids through exposure and exploration of the natural world and food production. Based at Brooklyn Grange rooftop farm, the world's largest soil based rooftop farm, we have leveraged our experience in activating and enlivening that unique space to create hands-on, nature-based learning experiences for youth in other non-traditional patches of green throughout New York City. City Growers’ programs engage thousands of kids each year in farm-based learning through hands-on workshops at Brooklyn Grange, school-based summer camps, school garden residencies, after-school programs, summer internships, and ecology workshops. Our certified beekeepers maintain rooftop hives at schools and train young beekeepers. We are committed to providing and expanding access to experiential learning that connect New York City kids to nature, food and possibility.
