Mission Statement

With so many young African American and Latino men in their criminal justice system African American men make up 15% of the population and 6% are incarcerated. I felt that it was time that we could use baseball to be a carrot so to speak to get kids to understand that education it's going to be their ticket out of a situation of crime and most of all second and third generations-of poverty. We have always had wonderful success within certain communities when it came to athletics but, I didn't want to find the next Barry Bonds or New York Yankee I wanted to find the next great inventor, the next great writer, the great next community service person who goes out and becomes the mayor, Governor, and President of the United States. I wanted to fight 100 years of poverty with education to even the playing field not on a Sports Complex but in the boardrooms of business in America, I wanted to find kids who were passionate about art, or about commerce, or about politics about science, mathematics, medicine, and research. I wanted kids who had never seen a horse, but I'd always thought about being a veterinarian to be able to fulfill those dreams even if they lived on the 20th floor in a New York City public housing complex. In 19 years we have graduated 350 young men and the greatest gift you can give anyone is the knowledge of self, and the knowledge that you can be anything you want to be if you see it, and someone believes in you, "You can change the world if only one person believes in you". Yes, if you are black or Latino and poor, still gives you no excuse to not excel in school. This country is the only country that has the word Dream attached to it. There are no Black Dreams or Latin Dreams or White Dreams or Asian Dreams There is only one Dream and its the American Dream And if people don't laugh at your dream, or question your dreams then you aren't dreaming big enough. Our Goals are simple, we want to put more young people in college than in the criminal justice system.
