Mission Statement
Backcountry Discovery Routes® (BDR®) is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that creates off-highway routes for adventure and dual-sport motorcycle travel. The organization’s mission includes promoting rider education and safety campaigns, driving economic relief to rural communities, and encouraging responsible motorcycle travel in the backcountry.
About This Cause
Dedicated to preserving off-road riding opportunities for adventure motorcycles - 10 Epic Motorcycle Adventures at Your Fingertips! Since 2010, BDR has been providing “turn-key” backcountry motorcycling itineraries to the community, including free GPS tracks, digital maps, trip planning and rider resources, route condition updates, YouTube videos, Q&As, and other information. All available 24/7 on www.RideBDR.com. Our work includes rider education, safety campaigns and promoting responsible travel for motorcyclists traveling in the backcountry. Our volunteer-powered organization works with agencies and land managers to keep trails and remote roads open for motorcycling. Each route generates new tourism that delivers sustainable economic relief to less-advantaged rural communities. This creates local stakeholders who will help fight to keep access for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles in these incredible backcountry areas. For each route, BDR partners with Butler Motorcycle Maps to publish a high-quality waterproof motorcycle map that’s packed with information. BDR also produces a feature-length expedition documentary film each year, shown at over 50 locations nationwide.
