The mission of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation is to create awareness and generate funds for Nicklaus Children’s Health System, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and any nonprofit affiliated entity under the system umbrella. The Foundation’s guiding principle is to ensure that all children have access to state-of-the-art pediatric care. The mission of Nicklaus Children's Health System is to inspire hope and promote lifelong health by providing the best care to every child.
About This Cause
Founded in 1950 by Variety Clubs International, Nicklaus Children's Hospital ("Nicklaus") is South Florida’s only licensed specialty hospital exclusively for children, with nearly 800 attending physicians and more than 475 pediatric subspecialists. Known as Miami Children's Hospital from 1983-2015, the hospital was renamed in 2016 following a transformational gift from golfer Jack Nicklaus and his wife Barbara, both champions of children’s health. The 309-bed hospital is renowned for excellence in all aspects of pediatric medicine, with several specialty programs routinely ranked among the best in the nation. The hospital is part of the Nicklaus Children’s Health System network, which includes more than a dozen outpatient centers extending from Palm Beach County to southern Miami-Dade, offering a range of pediatric services for all children, in South Florida and beyond. In addition to serving a local clientele of predominantly Medicaid-eligible patients, families travel to Nicklaus from across Florida, as well as Latin America and the Caribbean, seeking treatment for complex cases. Whenever possible, patient assistance for domestic and international patients is provided at no cost to families thanks to support from donor dollars. With the mission to inspire hope and promote lifelong health by providing the best care to every child, Nicklaus’s vision is to be where the children are, through all stages of health and life. Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation is the nonprofit fundraising arm of Nicklaus Children’s Health System, dedicated to raising funds that support the hospital’s greatest needs, including patient assistance, equipment, scientific research, facility expansions and more.
