Mission Statement
Children Are The Hope, Inc. (CATH) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Reedsburg, Wisconsin and was incorporated in 2011. Children Are The Hope reaches across barriers to nurture children's knowledge of and sensitivity to their global peers and the interconnected virtues of humanity by integrating academics, environmental education, cultural connections and creative expression to inspire stewardship of the earth and respect for each other.
About This Cause
Children Are The Hope, Inc. (CATH) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Reedsburg, Wisconsin and was incorporated in 2011. Children Are The Hope reaches across barriers to nurture children's knowledge of and sensitivity to their global peers and the interconnected virtues of humanity by integrating academics, environmental education, cultural connections and creative expression to inspire stewardship of the earth and respect for each other. The CATH program model is an interactive, mulit-disciplinary, and academic year-long program designed primarily for children in grades 4-6 (other grades are welcome to participate). CATH follows a synchronized and sequential program with Wisconsin classrooms and teams of students, teachers and communities in Turkey, Cuba and Rwanda. Currently, CATH is collaborating and celebrating friendships and partnerships in the Grand Wetland of the North in North Central Cuba; Ankara, Turkey; and the Musanze District of the Northern Province, Rwanda. We strive to build a deep sense of connection between our partner countries and Wisconsin, while simultaneously building a strong sense of individual belonging within the global community. In a world where HOPE is sometimes hard to find, students are guided through powerful classroom experiences and exchanges to believe in their power to bring hope to others and to BE a symbol of hope, friendship and peace across all barriers. In doing so, Children Are The Hope: • integrates sound and authentic instructional practices to produce integrated, effective, and multi-disciplinary programming for students; • nurtures and builds relationships at varying levels of community, including the classroom and school, family, international partners, global peers, and the public consumers of our work; • serves as a conduit through which the varying levels of community can come together, sharing inspiration, creativity, and respect; • fosters appreciation, stewardship, and awareness of the natural world; • develops a measurable sensitivity to the natural world and global peers and encourages participants to exhibit positive and responsible behavior to both; • believes art, in its many forms, is a positive and important communication tool to bridge barriers of language, geography, political and religious beliefs, age, culture, and the many complexities of human nature; and • cultivates respect for and belief in our individual abilities and contributions to the whole, as well as the power of the larger, collective global population to make the world a better, healthier place for all living creatures and natural systems.
