Mission Statement

The White Plains Youth Bureau has touched thousands of young lives since they opened their doors in 1970. The White Plains Youth Bureau has one mission: helping youth grow into successful adults. Today, the Youth Bureau works with over 2000 youth each day with 50 programs backed by our proud tradition of almost 50 years of service. As funds from federal, state, and local grants are reduced for youth-serving programs and with a high level of competition, The Friends of the White Plains Youth Bureau was started to assist the Youth Bureau in its mission of impacting White Plains youth by being an ancillary fundraising arm. The Friends are comprised of key stake holding individuals from across Westchester County that volunteer their time to see the Youth Bureau scale.

These youth are interested in ursuing careers in law and this rogram offers them hands on experience and the opportunity to network with professionals in the field. The Youth Court serves as an alternative to incarceration for young first time juenile offenders by providing them the opportunity to be involved in pro-social activities and making restitution for crimes committed. 2. Saturday Boys and Girls Academies: Serving almost 200 youth in grades 4 - 12, these academies provide youth with additional academic support and encouragement to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM). Youth commit to attending 5 hours every morning for 25 Saturdays during the school year. These youth would be the first in their families to graduate from high school and go to college. The program provides academic tutoring, field trips, career exploration, and hands on activities in STEM subjects. 3. Youth Bureau Aviation Academy: The Youth Bureau proudly launched the community's first Aviation Academy in 2017. This was made possible by the generous gift of a Flight Simulator built and donated by Jim Parker - a private pilot - who now runs the academy.
