Play On, Philly!

Mission Statement

Play On Philly (POP) provides underserved children in Philadelphia a transformative music education experience that develops and inspires the behaviors and personal skills needed for a successful life. Through the pursuit of musical achievement, our K-12 students experience academic improvements and practice the skills of patience, persistence and endurance. POP seeks to remove barriers to access by offering instruction tuition-free and by loaning each student an instrument at no cost.

About This Cause

Play On Philly provides one of 14 instruments at no cost to the child including clarinet, flute, harp, trombone, percussion, bassoon, and violin. Students bring the arts to diverse audiences across the region and ambitiously perform 30 times each year at large treasured venues such as the Kimmel Center and The Curtis Institute of Music as well as intimate venues including schools, places of worship, and senior care centers. We believe that as all youth deserve access to and benefit by the arts, so do community members. Donors, if they desire, can be invited to speak at a public POP concert and staff can volunteer at an event. Play On Philly is glad to have a small group of students perform for a Board, community group, or event. Donors are also welcome to personally tour the project you would support.
