Mission Statement

USAHello helps refugees, asylum seekers, immigrants and their receiving communities thrive with free, high-quality, information and education in many languages.

About This Cause

USAHello uses the power of the internet to help immigrants, asylum seekers, refugees and the communities that welcome them build brighter futures for themselves and their families. USAHello’s online platform serves as a hub for trustworthy information and educational resources visited by hundreds of thousands of people from diverse backgrounds every year. We work hard to be relevant to the communities we serve. Our information is written specifically for non-native English speakers and translated into additional languages to ensure it is accessible to as many people as possible. USAHello complements on the ground services, addressing barriers to integration on a national scale through the following programs: Information: trustworthy multilingual information resources, written in simple language. Topics include daily life, health, education, work, immigration and citizenship. We also provide regular updates on laws, rights and changing immigration policies to help our audience understand their options. Education: free self-paced classroom for high-school equivalency (GED) test preparation; information about the US school systems; directory of scholarships; access to free online English classes. Citizenship: information about all aspects of applying for US citizenship and connection to resources that help new Americans through the process; free multilingual online citizenship preparation class. Local services: connection to thousands of on-the-ground services (healthcare, legal, employment and more) through FindHello, our web and mobile app developed with UNHCR to connect newcomers to local resources in communities across the country. Our work is guided by the communities we serve. We believe that newcomers themselves are their own best advocates, and more than half of our board members are resettled refugees or first- and second-generation immigrants. Our programs were developed by and are continually guided by community input, including USAHello’s Technical Advisory Council of refugees and immigrants, many of whom work directly with other newcomers. We encourage regular feedback and contributions from diverse voices throughout our site.
