Mission Statement
The 306 Foundation mission is to build stronger communities by working with our donors, volunteers, and partners to break the poverty, violence and recidivism cycles in marginalized populations.
About This Cause
The 306 Foundation created the Toolbox4Life program in 2013. This eight-week program creates a healthy and nurturing community, while providing life skills, professional skills, and hands-on culinary or construction instruction. The culinary/construction programs bring students in contact with top entrepreneurs, award-winning chefs and builders, trades professionals and recognized local food institutions. Students receive training that will enable them to be employed in any industry, but with specific focus on food service or construction. All Toolbox4Life training and skills development are transferable and useful in students’ personal and professional lives. Toolbox4Life’s multi-faceted life skills curriculum is designed to help students address challenges and problems in a safe and supportive community. Topics include forgiveness, anger management and conflict resolution, grief and loss, and restoration of dignity. Also included is a comprehensive health & wellness element. Medical evaluations are performed at the beginning and at the conclusion of the program, to measure and evaluate progress. Several classes are taught to help students set timely and attainable goals, grow in their awareness of various health and wellness-related topics and issues impacting their daily lives. We also address soft skills with etiquette and personality assessment classes, and field trips, including Universal Studios, The Space Center, Sanford Zoo, Orlando Ballet and Orlando Art Museum. The third part of the program is the development of professional skills; resume building, interview skills, and business acumen/professionalism are added to a five-week job shadowing opportunity (culinary program only). Top business professionals, topical speakers and mentors also inform, encourage and shepherd students forward to meet the various challenges that await them as they graduate and look ahead to a more productive life.
