About This Cause
MEDICAL AND DENTAL MISSIONS – Prior to its incorporation the organization has been conducting medical and dental missions since April 19, 2010 to the impoverished communities in the Philippines. The missions have been conducted in the towns of Barbaza and in Culasi in the province of Antique in 2010 and in the remote island of Caluya in the Visayas in 2012. Free medical and dental services and medicines are provided to the beneficiaries of these missions. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS - The organization have identified Vicente A Javier Memorial Community College in the town of Culasi, Antique as recipient of much needed help. The school caters to the families of the poor students of the province who cannot afford to send their children to city schools and colleges. The organization through it’s Directors managed to prevent the closure the community college by addressing the issues with the Commission of Higher Education, the regulating body for schools of the Philippine Government. The involvement started in the middle of 2012.This was possible due to a commitment by the organization to help the college in addressing its deficiencies. The organization also established a scholarship program for deservingly poor students. OTHER PROGRAMS - The organization also had established an organizational structure to be ready to address issues in case of emergencies such as typhoons which is an annual occurrence in these areas . We have established health/welfare and livelihood programs which can be implemented as funds become available. The programs will include establishing "mini"-libraries as well as conduct training for CPR volunteers and other much needed educational programs. EMERGENCY RELIEF PROGRAMS Back in 2013, we have conducted the highly successful Relief Program for the victims that were devastated by Typhoon Haiyan, the super typhoon that hit the Philippines on November 8, 2013. As you may well know, the City of Tacloban in the province of Leyte, Philippines, was the hardest hit and the highly publicized account of its devastation. Right after hitting Leyte, the typhoon's eye continued its westerly path towards the Northern part of Antique. This is where Gintong Puso focused its relief program. Due to your quick support and donations, we were able to immediately mobilize our relief efforts within a week right after roads became passable, communications started working again even without electricity. Because Gintong Puso Volunteer Structure have long been established, critical food, water, medicine, clothes and much needed supplies have reached the victims on November 16th, way ahead of everybody. June 8, 2015, as part of our Educational Program, we opened a library located in Barbaza, Antique, Philippines, fully funded and sponsored by Gintong Puso Charity Fund. This is an ongoing program where we send books and other library materials to depressed areas in the Philippines. We also conducted a Diabetes & Stroke Awareness to coincide with the opening of the library.
