Mission Statement

We like to say that we develop players, not athletes. Through the modeling of good sportsmanship, teamwork, a positive mindset, and integrity over "winning", our boys learn to develop character and to take advantage of the fun and friendship our sport has to offer them. Yet these are difficult times for youth sports. In our case, every year the cost of leasing time on practice fields rises - often dramatically. And it is our policy to never turn any child away for financial reasons - which is why we fundraise. Donations will also go to helping financially distressed families with the cost of cleats and other equipment (our program does not own gear we can loan to players). We greatly appreciate any donations on behalf of you, your employer, and the Benevity program. They will be put to good use in keeping boys in Southwest Portland between first and eighth grades both physically and mentally fit. Thank you.

About This Cause

The Wilson Youth Boys Lacrosse club program was started in 2003 as a recreational lacrosse club with the objectives of having fun, developing lacrosse skills, learning the rules and cultivating a love for the game of lacrosse. In 2003 the first combined team was comprised of 22 boys. Today we have over 90 boys playing lacrosse and are now planning for our 16th season. With boys in grades 1-8, we typically have players in our program attending up to as many as 20 different elementary, middle and private schools. Lacrosse is a great game for many reasons, one of them is how many new friends everyone makes each season. The Boys Lacrosse club is run by volunteers. It is through the power of our lacrosse community that we will continue to build a strong Wilson Youth Lacrosse program. Go Trojans!
