Mission Statement

BimBam’s digital storytelling sparks connections to Judaism for learners of all ages.

About This Cause

BimBam is a non-profit media studio on a mission to spark connections to Judaism through digital storytelling, for learners of all ages. We’ve mined the rich traditions and teachings of Judaism to create over 300 videos that simultaneously engage and educate, and we offer all of our content to the community for free. Our Judaism 101 video series provides young adults a basic online Jewish education and our preschool series Shaboom! for young Jewish families highlights one Jewish value at a time using social emotional learning. Our Jewish text resources are valuable to educators not only to share with their students but also to help them feel more confident in their teaching. Over the past 8 years our videos have logged over 11 million minutes of watch time on YouTube, meaning that we have driven over 21 years of Jewish learning that would not otherwise have happened. Because of our videos: -A young girl dreading religious school became excited to learn more after watching our entire Parsha series. -A young man whose friend was sitting Shiva learned what was expected and what to expect at a Shiva call. -A grandparent was able to share Jewish moments with their grandchildren across the country by talking about our kids’ cartoon series. We pursue our mission because fewer people are connecting to legacy institutions of Judaism and Jewish learning. When people have Jewish questions they are looking online, where we supply them with enjoyable, nourishing, high-quality content. We present Judaism as an opportunity to connect to something greater than one’s self - be it God, community, history, or tradition, and we know that Judaism can provide a blueprint for how to be a better human being, which at this particular time in history is of tremendous importance. BimBam has proven that by offering quick, convenient, comfortable opportunities for Jewish learning, people are more likely to take the time to watch and engage fully. Our content channels are specifically crafted for targeted audiences and focused on transmitting foundational Jewish values about how to treat other people and how to treat the earth, and on provide a basic understanding of Jewish customs and traditions to decrease discomfort as a barrier to deeper engagement. It’s important to note BimBam’s pluralist focus. We know that our core audience on our website is non-Orthodox educators, and that on YouTube, it’s adults and parents of varied backgrounds looking for answers to their questions. We are committed to making work that speaks to Jews of every denomination and background and non-Jews as well, and you will see this reflected in our carefully constructed scripts and visual style. Our work has received critical acclaim from the Jewish educational world as well as the mainstream media (NPR, CNN, Forbes) and we are proud to have grown the organization out of its startup phase and into a beloved brand with a passionate fanbase.
