Mission Statement
The mission of Miles of Freedom is to equip, empower, and employ individuals returning home from prison and provide support and assistance for families and communities impacted by Incarceration.
About This Cause
Miles of Freedom’s (MOF) Re-entry Assistance Program (REA) assists formerly incarcerated individuals that are either returning home to Dallas or transitioning through Dallas. Program activities include case management, job readiness training, job skills training, and employment. The REA gives formerly incarcerated clients the skills and the confidence to seek, gain and maintain gainful employment. In support to the REA program, MOF provides two transitional employment training (TET) programs. These programs provide immediate income for clients and supports their development of technical and soft skills needed to gain and maintain employment in the community. MOF also provides bi-monthly shuttle transportation services to Coffield, Michael, Beto 1 and Gurney units. This program affords community members with loved ones who are presently incarcerated the means to visit and keep connected while overcoming transportation barriers that would otherwise preclude their ongoing connections. Richard Miles committed to reaching out to help others come home, supporting them as they seek housing, employment, and the opportunity to regain dignity and humanity.
