Our mission is to activate, connect, and mobilize the largest racial equity community in tech to dismantle the structural barriers that prevent the full participation and leadership of Black and Latinx people in the innovation economy.
About This Cause
Code2040 is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization based in San Francisco, CA whose mission is to activate, connect, and mobilize the largest racial equity community in tech to dismantle the structural barriers that prevent full participation and leadership of Black and Latinx people in the innovation economy. 2040 is the beginning of the decade when people of color will make up the majority demographic of the United States. Historically, Black and Latinx talent has never been integrated into high-wage work in America. Across all major workforce industries, one can see college degree attainment levels exceed the percentage of Black and Latinx who are successful in gaining employment in high wage industries. Simultaneously, the tech industry is radically transforming our economy and society, ushering changes not seen since the Industrial Revolution. Code2040 is building a movement towards racial equity in the tech sector. Our work is founded on the belief that the tech industry must undergo systemic changes in order to effectively attract, retain, and promote Black and Latinx technologists; and we are working to ensure Black and Latinx people are fully represented in and leading the innovation economy. We connect Black & Latinx tech talent with companies, mentors, and peers committed to racial equity and inclusion in the tech sector.Our programming is focused on supporting early-career tech talent, from college and graduate-level computer science students to Black & Latinx technologists navigating their first jobs. Our core programs have developed from our learnings and data to address the issues driving systemic exclusion of Black and Latinx technologists in the tech sector. Through these programs and custom engagements, we work with industry leaders to craft unique, impactful partnerships and initiatives that will help them hire and retain diverse talent.
