Mission Statement
Memory Matters Utah (Alzheimer's & Dementia Society), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing free or low-cost services for people who are faced with one of the diseases of dementia. Our mission is to reduce isolation and increase wellness for individuals with dementia and their caregivers through activities, support, education, and consultations. Our vision is a paid-for community building where we can provide classes, support groups, early-stage intervention, and adult daycare.
About This Cause
Memory Matters Utah (formerly The Alzheimer's & Dementia Society), serves individuals and families who are faced with the challenges of memory loss caused by any of the illnesses of dementia. We are located in Southwestern Utah and provide services that are often not covered by Medicare, Medicaid or other insurances or organizations. These services include an innovative Early Stage Memory Loss program, Memory Activity Classes (providing respite for caregivers and meaningful socialization and cognitive activities for those with dementia), Good Morning Sunshine wellness calling service, Caregiver Support Groups, and a variety of educational and professional training/outreach programs. Personalized services include one on one caregiver consultations with referrals and printed materials covering a comprehensive range of topics from disease-specific education to general caregiving information. Women typically bear the burden of this disease by two-thirds. More women have dementia and more women are involved in full-time care. We are sensitive to the consequences of caring and living with dementia. We work with local and government agencies and charities to provide a full range of services to support caregivers and those suffering from the effects of dementia. We work to help our communities prepare to help their neighbors, church families and workforce to support families and individuals with Alzheimer's disease, Vascular Dementia, Lewy Body Dementia, FTD, Parkinson's and other forms of dementia. We promote brain health and the prevention of brain disease through education, testing, cognitive training, and referrals. We love our community, our seniors and our clients who are vulnerable, afraid, and yet, working hard to care for themselves and the ones they love.
