Mission Statement

Night Lights creates safe and accepting environments by providing respite care for children with special needs and their neuro-typical siblings ages 4 weeks to 13 years.

About This Cause

Night Lights is a free respite care organization for children with special needs and their siblings, ages 1 month - 13 years. Each child is paired with a trained, background-checked volunteer. There is a registered nurse at each Night Lights site to assist with any medical needs. Throughout the evening, the children enjoy a variety of activities such as gross motor, free play, crafts, games, pet therapy, movies, sensory play, and a snack. Night Lights is held 1 Friday each month at each location from 6:30-10 pm. The purpose of Night Lights is to provide a much-needed break for parents from the challenging tasks that come with caring for a child with special needs. Night Lights is unique in its approach to respite care because it provides a place of love and acceptance for the child with special needs, but also the siblings. Oftentimes, the siblings become secondary caregivers of their brother or sister with special needs, but at Night Lights, they just get to come and be kids!
