Mission Statement
Prospect Riding Center is dedicated to serving individuals, families and the community through providing horseback riding therapy and activities that benefit riders with special needs, as well as instruction for recreational riders. Our aim is to provide a physical, social and personal interaction that develops a unique level of communication and special bond between the rider and horse, leading to growth in independence for the betterment of their daily lives, the family and the community.
About This Cause
There is a natural link between horses and humans that develops a unique level of communication and a special bond. Prospect Riding Center is proof of this with our success stories of the benefits of equine therapy and recreational riding partnered with horse care education. Throughout our history, we have worked toward a single purpose: to provide a unique physical, social and personal equine interaction for riders and their families, making sure they feel connected within their family, school, and community. This has not only enhanced the independence and capability of the rider to be a contributing member of the community, but also extends the experience by creating memories that continue to nurture beyond lesson time, making a real and positive impact on the rider’s life, the family and the community. Our founder was introduced to therapy riding in 2005 as the result of her own experience with her child with special needs. Seeing the progression of her own child and the joyful independence as a rider, she was prompted to immerse herself in finding accommodations and modifications for those with special needs. Her acquired skills as an equine specialist, focusing on mental health and learning, are the driving force behind the organization’s conception and success. Prospect Riding Center has helped individuals with special needs overcome physical, developmental, or psychological challenges in their lives since 2011. Recreational riding was added in 2017 to expand our mission impact. Our unique equine interaction is designed to meet the needs of riders in all programs, celebrating diversity and embracing inclusive practices. PATH International Certified member center and PATH certified instructors. PATH International is the governing body for therapeutic riding programs. Department of Agriculture Best Management Equine Program member. BMP practices measures that reduce the amount of fertilizers, animal waste, and other pollutants entering our water resources through nutrient management, water resources protection and manure management. Knowledgeable and Dedicated staff with extensive experience working with horses, therapeutic riding and instruction. We are invested with the responsibility to deliver the highest quality riding experience. Individual Attention with each ride designed to meet the needs of the individual as well as their families. Horse Care Education builds the relationship between the rider and the horse. This is a valuable element and helps build confidence and encourages emotional connection. The relationship between horse and rider is a major focus of all programs. Volunteers are trained in assisting riders, tending to horses and barn maintenance. They are the power of the organization. Warm and Nurturing environment, with safe and ethical practices based on knowledge and experience following PATH standards. Expansive Ranch of quiet woods with well maintained trails and varied sized riding areas for rider progression.
