Mission Statement
The Ferrari kid experience is designed to give children coping with cancer and other illnesses a chance to forget about their struggles and give them a break by making them a “celebrity” for a day. About This Cause
I was seven years old when the Doctors first cut me open; little did I know I would have surgery every year of my life, sometimes twice the same year. After 48 operations, 3 ½ years in and out of hospitals, 2 years of chemotherapy and radiation treatment, I was blessed to beat some of the toughest odds. However it left many scars inside and out, and unfortunately like so many other kids much pain. In 1987, I went to Beverly Hills, California to see Michael Jackson’s plastic surgeon, Dr. Timothy Miller, which was paid for by the Air Force, thankfully, due to my father’s 23 years of service. When I arrived at the Los Angeles International Airport, I saw a Ferrari 328, I asked the owner if I could take a picture next to the car and that picture forever changed me. I felt like a rock-star…a real celebrity! He let me sit in it and over 20 years later, I still have never forgotten that experience. “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” - Maya Angelou Now, Manny is a cancer survivor, highly respected speaker, and coach. He is a contributing author to #1 New York Best Seller “Chicken Soup for the Surviving Soul“, “Success is a Journey”, and “Happiness Is A Pair of Shorts”. He lives in San Antonio with his amazing children Nicole (Sunshine) and Caroline (Keeper). He is a huge San Antonio Spurs fan, and his love of business is only matched by his passion for philanthropy. So here is the experience I created for each Ferrari Kid we can support: The Ferrari Kid mission: Imagine the excitement, the anticipation, the joy knowing in moments you will be picked up in a Ferrari, be given a Ferrari Kid shirt, and sunglasses, and, if you are old enough, drive to the restaurant, tailor, spa, or go to whatever local celebrity destination you want. Upon arrival, photographers (paparazzi) will await you and take your picture as you walk the red carpet while your fans seek your autograph. Then days later, after you were the Star in the spotlight, you receive a picture book where your memory will last forever. Congratulations you just experienced The Ferrari Kid!
