Mission Statement

Young Chances Foundation was created in 2012 by Executive Director Tyrique Glasgow as a foundation created to provide urban children with the opportunity to have fun, strengthen family relationships, build positive leadership skills through peer motivated activities, and having resources to help assist with general to higher education. While also having the mission to produce safety, reduce community based violence, and to alleviate some of the neighborhood environment within the community. To accomplish its mission over the past 10 years Young Chances Foundation has developed Programs, Activities, Events, and Chat & Chews, Books 4 Breakfast,Rally Against Poverty program,targeting public health and safety initiatives to help provide the community residents and youth the opportunity to positively communicate with each other, engage in social activities, and to just have fun. Dance teams, a Biddieball league, fashion/talent shows, tutoring/ mentoring camps, spelling bees, trips and more, are some of the events and programs that help assist in our mission. In 2018 YCF opened its own Community Engagement Center in South Philadelphia and is home to all the neighborhood youth and community residents to have access to year round youth educational and recreational programs, community events ,along with essential resources for parents and seniors along with life skills information for the community. Over the COVID-19 pandemic 2020-2022 YCF have served over 530,000lbs of food out of their community engagement center,servicing 17,302 households across the Philadelphia region and hosted over 75 community events related to Public safety,Public Health & Community Engagement with their residents. In addition to the various programs and events that Y.C.F. provides, they also have groomed alliances with some of the Local Elected Officials,University of Penn Community Scholars Program,GPLEX,PAAN,Indego Bike Share,Food Share Program,IAMSP,17th Police District,Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Department,36th Democratic Ward,numerous State, Local and City Agencies to provides additional resources, activities, housing protection, community concerns, parenting awareness, neighborhood cleanups, etc.., in the South Philadelphia area to promote the positive resources, programs, and events available for the residents and community members. Over the next couple initiatives YCF plans to expand its organization’s capacity to go mobile and assist other groups in poverty stricken communities.YCF is always looking for volunteers and organizations to support and enhance their vision.
