Mission Statement
Partners in Prevention is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 2010 we have worked to increase awareness of the effects of child abuse and neglect and to promote solutions by supporting prevention services within a wide range of communities. We are a diverse group of people from all walks of life—business, government and civil society that believe in protecting childhood for children today so they can fulfill their potential as adults tomorrow.
About This Cause
Each year in April we launch a month-long public awareness campaign to coincide with National Child Abuse Prevention month. We work to inform the public on the existence of child abuse, it's life-long adverse effects, and advocate for safety in childhood. We distribute public awareness campaign materials throughout the country. Partners In Prevention has created a Safety Awareness Education for Children program for use in classroom and youth group settings. The program materials can be used in coordination with existing curriculum or as stand alone teaching tools. We create, produce, and provide these materials at no cost to eligible organizations. Additionally, we support unique programs in communities across the nation that focus on primary prevention. We do this because we know the early years are the most vulnerable time for boys and girls. We know that 1 in 4 females and 1 in 6 males report having experienced child sexual abuse. We know the vast majority, 87%, of sexual abuse is never reported. and because we know 92% of abusers are known to the family. We believe every child deserves a childhood.
