About This Cause
SERVICES PROVIDED TO CLIENTS HOUSING--Separate units for 70 men and 30 women; secure buildings, nutritious meals three times a day, shared bedrooms, clean lounge areas. CASE MANAGEMENT--Monitoring location and activities of clients, including electronic monitoring; alcohol and other drug screenings; consequences for irresponsible behavior; assistance with healthcare and court appointments. MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES--Individual and group counseling using evidence-based practices to correct negative thinking habits and maintain recovery from addiction; several on staff have Master’s level training in mental health counseling EMPLOYMENT SERVICES--Assistance with obtaining a job and arranging transportation; clients pay 25% of their earnings as rent for their stay at Glory House BENEFITS TO THE COMMUNITY SAFETY—Clients are housed away from schools and single family homes, assessed for risk of re-offending, monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and referred to law enforcement if necessary due to serious infractions PUBLIC REVENUE SAVING—Glory House’s daily cost per client is about half the cost of incarceration; completing the program is generally followed by payment of restitution, taxes and family support (more than half of our clients have dependent children); lowered dependency on public assistance WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT—90% of Glory House clients are employed; many employers request our clients due to a reputation for reliability and good work ethic TRANSITIONAL HOUSING IN NEW 25-UNIT FACILITY—BUILDING HOPE EXPANDS HOUSING FOR HARD-TO-SERVE POPULATION—Upon completing their program, our clients often have few housing options (or none) due to felony status or other restrictions, unaffordability of rent in Sioux Falls, and lack of a down payment for even a modest house; prior living environment may not be wholesome SERVICES NEXT DOOR—Tenants have access to individual and group counseling and other Glory House services in close proximity; property is monitored to maintain a clean, safe, sober environment for everyone. RESPONSIBILITY—Residents pay rent, giving the facility a positive cash flow; educational classes on renting and home ownership are provided in preparation for future transitions CLIENT TESTIMONIES SHOW IMPACT “It’s not worth it to go back to my old life.
