Mission Statement
Camp Liberty was created to provide an environment conducive to the therapeutic experience facilitated by a natural Michigan outdoors setting. Through inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities and our accessible facilities, Camp Liberty will provide programs designed to aid in the rehabilitation and reintegration of U.S. Military Service Members, Veterans, their families and charities engaged in helping individuals that are facing health challenges. Camp Liberty programs rely on a network of supporters that includes all all-volunteer workforce, donations, sponsors and grants.
About This Cause
Camp Liberty provides an environment conducive to the therapeutic experience facilitated by a natural wilderness setting, helping individuals develop life skills or face health challenges. Many of Camp Liberty’s programs are held at its base of operations, which includes an accessible lodge, program center and 137 acres located in Norvell Township of Jackson County, MI. Camp Liberty Inc. has use of the property and facilities through a $1 dollar per year lease agreement. Under this agreement, Camp Liberty Inc. utilizes this property for its recreational and therapeutic programs. A multi-year conservation plan has been implemented to restore this property to a native Michigan habitat in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Conservation Reserve program, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Partner’s for Fish and Wildlife program and with the support of conservation organizations such as Pheasants Forever, Safari Club International, and the National Turkey Foundation. Funding for Camp Liberty comes from grants, private donations, and through annual fundraising events. Camp Liberty’s impact and services extend well beyond our current location. Camp Liberty advises and connects Veterans with public and private services that can help them address benefits related to health care, disability compensation, education, employment, and housing.
