About This Cause
Ironheart Foundation was born from two childhood friends on a quest to turn tragedy into triumph. David Watkins, was diagnosed with a congenital heart disorder which resulted in him flatlining for five minutes and Rick Armiger lost his son, Emerson, only 19 days old tragically to a congenital heart defect. The mission of Ironheart Foundation is to transform, empower and impact the lives of those affected with heart disease. Ironheart provides heart disease education, support and athletic inspiration. Ironheart makes a difference internationally by inspiring, connecting and saving lives through athletics, health education and community outreach. The Foundation serves members from 48 states and 18 countries participating in more than 1600 athletic events annually raising awareness for heart disease and celebrating life. Since 2005, Ironheart Foundation has linked more than 600 cardiac patients with leading specialists, taking the frustration out of finding the right care. This initiative provides one-on-one consultations with patients and family members looking for support, advice, and care options. Ironheart has also placed life saving Automatic External Defibrillators in places of need. Ironheart currently seeks funding for a research project that will study the effects of exercise on heart disease prevention and rehabilitation after a cardiac episode. Join our team!
