Mission Statement

There are millions of entrepreneurs-by-necessity in frontier markets as meaningful job opportunities are limited. We support these micro-entrepreneurs through free and accessible education tailored towards micro-entrepreneurship and policy change. Most of them are women. By empowering women with livelihoods, we aim to break the cycle of domestic abuse and lack of options these women face.

About This Cause

There are millions of micro entrepreneurs, mostly women, in frontier markets as meaningful job opportunities are limited. We support these entrepreneurs through free and accessible education tailored towards micro-entrepreneurship and policy change. We believe in virtuous cycle of education and experimentation that supports local livelihoods, which in turn influences economic policy. Our main audience are in the poorest economies in Asia. Our work largely benefits female entrepreneurs. Over more than a decade of work, we have been reported in the Economist, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, participated in the World Economic Forum as an advisor and been published as a Harvard Business School case study. We started out focused on N Korea with a US State Department grant and now also serve Vietnamese and Kazakhstan micro-entrepreneurs. We are congressionally funded and compliant with all relevant US regulations in the countries we operate in. Since 2020, as a result of COVID19, we have invested in and expanded our online programs significantly, bringing many of our beneficiaries online for the first time. We also thank in particular support from Schmidt Futures and the World Economic Forum for support to our programs.
