THE HUMAN TRAFFICKING LEGAL CENTER

WASHINGTON, District of Columbia, 20005-0000 United States

Mission Statement

We are fighting for a world without forced labor and demand accountability from traffickers, from governments, and from corporations. We believe in a movement where survivors are leading the charge and want to put resources in the hands of survivors, where they belong. As a bridge to justice, we connect survivors to free legal representation. We drive systematic change, using strategic litigation, survivor-led advocacy, trade remedies and data-driven research. We are dedicated to continuous learning in the human trafficking movement, informed and shaped by those with lived experience.

About This Cause

Around the world, traffickers hold tens of millions of men, women, and children in forced labor, involuntary servitude, forced prostitution, and child commercial sexual exploitation. Traffickers prey on citizens and immigrants alike, enjoying almost complete impunity across the globe. We strive for accountability through four core objectives: 1. Strategic Litigation -Around the globe, survivors of forced labor rarely see their day in court. Strategic litigation is often the only path to justice for trafficking survivors. 2. Survivors' Rights -Systems have failed trafficking survivors. The Human Trafficking Legal Center fights for the rights of survivors. With pro bono lawyers by their side, trafficking survivors can pursue justice and rebuild their lives. 3. Trade and Forced Labor -Forced labor is a feature, not a bug, in global supply chains. This cannot be tolerated. We attack the systemic flaws that allow forced labor to exist. 4. Advocacy and Accountability -Advocacy must be based on rigorous research. We hold governments accountable for failure to enforce laws and protect victims' rights.
