Mission Statement
Casita Copan's mission is to prevent child abandonment by nurturing orphaned and vulnerable children and supporting single mothers.
About This Cause
Founded in 2012 by a group of local residents, Casita Copan accomplishes its mission with two main programs: the daycare center and the permanent foster homes. The daycare center is an after-school learning space for children who are at high risk of child abandonment, whose mothers are low income, single women. The "casitas" are three permanent foster homes that are funded entirely by the organization, and are headed by permanent foster mothers who are employees of the organization and have committed to raising the children as their own. Casita Copan also offers mentorship programs for teenagers, community building for mothers, medical assistance, meals, clothes and school supplies for all families involved in the program.
