Mission Statement
Friends of the Palo Alto Animal Shelter's Mission: To develop, enrich, and publicize the resources and benefits of Palo Alto Animal Services (PAAS) and to support its activities in the interest of the community.
About This Cause
Friends of the Palo Alto Animal Shelter was incorporated in January 2013 and in June of that year qualified with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our EIN is 46-2071298. FoPAAS collects donations to use for special needs at the shelter. For example, we paid to have Heavenly Greens Pet Turf installed in the outdoor dog play area. We also publicize events at the shelter and photograph the animals for presentation on Facebook and our website. We have been working with the City to accomplish a change of ownership--from the Palo Alto Police Department to a qualified private nonprofit. Once the new management is in place, we plan to begin fundraising for new shelter accommodations, following the examples of progressive animal shelters.
