MCBackpack is a charity that provides meals for children who are food insecure on week ends. It services 31% of 29, 527 children in Poudre School District living at or below the poverty level. Last school year it packed 12,178 bags which provided 123,849 meals or about a 1000 each week end.
About This Cause
McBackpack provides meals for children who are living at or below the poverty level in larimer county Poudre School District. Last school year it provided 123,849 week end meals for children who would not have access to food otherwise. 98% of donated funds are used for food and the transport of food from the Food Bank. Space to store and pack bags is donated by a local church and all labor and transportation to schools is donated by the 50+ volunteers who pack and deliver each Thursday a.m. If the volunteer contribution of time and transportation were to be paid for, the amount would cost the school in excess of $250,000.
