Mission Statement

Heart and Home Collaborative (H+H) is a non-profit seasonal shelter that serves unhoused women in Palo Alto. H+H provides respite from the cold and a place that makes shelter-participants feel safe. We believe that the women who use our services are the experts, and we invite shelter participants to engage in program planning and shelter operations. We actively build community and friendships between shelter guests and the larger community.

About This Cause

Heart and Home Collaborative (H+H) is a volunteer-run nonprofit, offering shelter to unhoused individuals in Palo Alto, CA. Founded in 2012 by a team of Stanford students, Heart and Home’s flagship Women’s Shelter program provides night-time winter shelter for fifteen unhoused women in the general Palo Alto vicinity. H+H works closely with local congregations, Palo Alto neighbors and community partners, and a Stanford student team to operate our seasonal shelter, provide resources, and create dialogue and community between our shelter participants and volunteers. For more information, review our website at https://hhcollab.org, which has our program description and values. Our shelter season typically runs from November through March. *Our shelter welcomes all self-identifying women.
