Mission Statement

Canines of Hope- Service Dogs for Diabetes

About This Cause

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was formed to help families in Washtenaw County, Michigan raise the necessary funds to purchase a Diabetic Alert Dog. We will also help raise money to help send kids to Diabetes Camp, in Fenton Mi. Camp MIDICHA is a wonderful place for kids to meet other kids with Type 1 Diabetes while learning new ways to manage and cope with their Diabetes. We also accept donations from those in need of a 501(c)(3) to send their donations to in order to receive a tax deduction. Diabetic Alert Dogs are trained to detect the hormone change in their handlers scent and they are able to alert to a Type 1 Diabetics rise or fall in blood sugar roughly 20 minutes before it occurs which can be life saving. The training and care for these dogs is very expensive so we wanted to help those that could benefit from having a Diabetic Alert Dog by providing fundraising support and a place that they can send their donations for a tax credit. All of the dogs that we will help raise money for will be trained and delivered through Alert Service Dogs, Inc. They are located in Indianapolis, Indiana.
