Mission Statement
The mission of Leadership Mission International (LMI) is to develop the next generation of ethical women leaders in Honduras by providing exceptional academics, leadership, and community development experiences. LMI, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization, is creating genuine entrepreneurial and employment opportunities for women in Honduras, through the training and educational programs of The Leadership Center (TLC). The women who graduate from TLC will represent a new generation of ethical Honduran leaders who can develop long-term sustainable solutions to the challenges that face their society. These women return to their communities where they become financially independent and assume leadership roles.
About This Cause
Leadership Mission International envisions national leaders taking responsibility for the problems that plague their societies. When the outcast and underprivileged have an opportunity to use their voice for the benefit of society, everyone benefits. It is the leaders who graduate from Leadership Mission International’s academic institutions that will be making long-term, sustainable solutions in their communities and countries. -The Leadership Center is a two year residential college that teaches classes in English, Leadership, Community Development and Entrepreneurship. -Since 2011 we have educated and partnered with young women to be leaders of integrity who can help bring about positive change in Honduras through entrepreneurship and community service. -We also provide micro financing for qualified young women to start a small business. -We work with Honduran and U.S. officials to enhance the safety and security of our students and graduates, their entrepreneurial businesses; and volunteers who serve with us on mission trips. -We have educated more than 100 young women from 94% of the departments across Honduras. -We have funded over 30 entrepreneurs and launched dozens of women into leadership opportunities; 82% of our graduates run their own business, work their own job, or are pursuing further education in their pursuit of future career opportunities. -These young women will have a “force multiplier” impact as they provide ethical leadership and substantial community involvement. The following are a few key ideas that motivate us toward our mission and vision. -We value access to educational opportunities for everyone, even the least privileged individuals in society, because we believe that education has the potential to change lives. -We value service to others, and believe that servant leadership has the potential to change the way that entire societies think about authority and influence. -We value the empowerment of under-resourced individuals who lack access to pathways relevant to their growth, and believe that foreigners will not be responsible for the most important changes in any society. Thus, we strive to empower every individual we serve so that they have the opportunity to provide positive change throughout their society. -We value diversity, and believe that everyone, regardless of race, religion, gender, political views, etc. deserves the chance to make a difference in the lives of others. -We value empowering young women in order to change the world.
