The mission of the Discover Outdoors Foundation is to positively impact learning through life-changing outdoor experiences. Whether it’s a student in the Bronx or a family in Los Angeles, we believe everyone has an equal right to relish the natural world. Help us fulfill the dream of connecting communities to nature, one student at a time.
About This Cause
Our mission is to positively impact learning through life-changing outdoor experiences. Our vision is a world where students excel academically because they have experienced the outdoors. We envision classroom lessons taught experientially in an outdoor setting, inspiring students to learn and grow. We envision a world in which teachers open the door to nature, empowering students to reach their personal summits. We envision a world where communities are connected to the outdoors, because nature is everyone’s birthright. Our core values are experiential education, ethical leadership, commitment to community and healthy lifestyle. We serve students in grades 5–12, in public and charter schools in all boroughs of New York City, particularly in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. In just the first two years, the Discover Outdoors Foundation has taken over 1,000 inner-city students on their first outdoor experience.
