Mission Statement
The Friends of the Waltham Family School’s mission is to raise financial support and awareness of the WFS in the community, and recruit volunteers. FWFS supports Waltham Family School in its mission to provide educational opportunities for families who want to learn English. Waltham Family School (WFS) empowers English Learner families to be literate, self-sufficient and connected to the greater Waltham Community. WFS prepares children for success in school, empowers parents to be partners with school in the education of their children, and strengthens the parents’ skills necessary for parenting, workforce, and community life.
About This Cause
In 2003, the Waltham Family School (WFS) was established with a powerful mission: breaking down barriers and empowering at-risk immigrant families in Waltham to access interactive and personalized English language education without financial burden. The WFS is dedicated to preparing children for Kindergarten while offering ESOL education to their parents. The ultimate aim is to support these families in their educational journey, ensuring children can excel academically, and equip parents with the necessary English skills and knowledge to help prepare them for professional, educational, and community opportunities. WFS is also a place where leadership blossoms, and parents dive headfirst into civic life with passion and enthusiasm.
