Mission Statement
To find and accelerate cures for cancers and other diseases by fostering and rewarding a community of collaboration and innovation. We seek to spread awareness, expedite research and kinder treatments, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
About This Cause
Dragon Master Foundation is transitioning to Dragon Master Initiative, so you will see both names used on our information. The nonprofit focuses primarily on improving the research process through the use of large-scale data that transcends traditional consortiums and databases. The primary mechanism for this is Cavatica.org which links genomic and clinical data and where possible, biosamples. Further, the research platform is built for high-volume, high-velocity data processing taking advantage of the latest technologies while allowing for future growth and advancements. The initial primary focus is brain tumors, starting with data collection in the pediatric population and then expanding into adults. We are partnered with the Children's Brain Tumor Network on the Cavatica platform, and work closely with the National Institute of Health on the linkage and promotion of the Kids First Data Resource Center, which aligns pediatric cancer data with structural birth defect data as those populations are thought to have shared mutations driving their conditions. Additionally, as patients with brain cancer frequently need to travel to get to quality care, we have a travel fund that assists families with travel related expenses. There is also a new initiative to encourage researchers and support staff who have chosen pediatric brain tumors as their area of concentration. This initiative will seek to attract more researchers to the field as well as build morale for those who are already working on pediatric brain tumor research.
