Mission Statement
In partnership with communities in resource-poor areas, PIVOT combines accessible and comprehensive health care services with rigorous scientific research to save lives and break cycles of poverty and disease.
About This Cause
PIVOT's mission is based on a fundamental belief in the worth of all people and a moral responsibility to address the needs of the destitute. The goal is to create a model system of universal access to quality healthcare for Madagascar via comprehensive health system strengthening in a region near Ranomafana National Park. PIVOT will take a highly rigorous approach, carefully measuring costs and impacts, engaging in relevant scientific research. Research occurs through collaborations with the Ministry of Health and other Malagasy partner institutions, Stony Brook University’s Global Health Institute, Centre ValBio and others. PIVOT actively engages with partners in a broad effort to promote sustainable development through social, economic and environmental programs that are synergistic with human health and wellbeing.
