Mission Statement
Sargam Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headquartered in Portland, Oregon. The foundation strives to find young, promising, underprivileged musical talents and provides scholarship, mentorship and a platform to nurture and showcase their talents.
About This Cause
Sargam Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization promoting Indian culture in North American and vice-versa. The Foundation assists young, talented and underprivileged local and Indian musicians through funding, mentorship and provide platforms to showcase their talent. In 2020, Sargam Foundation has donated about $4000 Oregon Food Bank, Meals on Wheel, Peoples’ Initiative for Technology (Jadavpur University, West Bengal, India), FEED Food Education and Economic Development (West Bengal, India) to help fight against Covid-19. Because of Covid-19, Sargam Foundation started donating to Oregon Food Bank, Meals on Wheel, Connected Children in Kitala and Empower a Girl in Uganda through Global Giving. Total amount of donations over 2021, 2022 and 2023 exceeded $8000. In addition to that the Foundation has a total of forty three (43) cash scholarships to underprivileged young musicians in the amount of slightly more than one Million Indian Rupees (~1,100,000). Scholars are using the scholarship money not only to pursue their musical aspirations, but also to pay for higher education and medical care for themselves and their families. The Foundation gave most of these young artists their very first opportunity to ever perform in front of a live audience during the scholarship awards ceremonies held in India. These programs are helping them to grow their confidence and provide them public exposure. The Foundation is changing lives in very meaningful ways!
