HOMEMADE HOPE CELEBRATING LIFE WITH HOMELESS CHILDREN

HOUSTON, Texas, 77227 United States

Mission Statement

Through a unique program focused on the culinary arts, Homemade Hope nurtures and empowers at-risk Houston children, teaching them how to cook nutritious foods, developing their life skills and engendering stability in their lives.

About This Cause

In partnership with local shelters and community centers, Homemade Hope’s programs teach children how to prepare simple, healthy recipes from fresh ingredients. Children learn the importance of eating nutritious foods and discover the joy of family meals, opening young minds to visions of a good life ahead. Through the three pillars of our work—weekly cooking sessions, holiday celebrations, and field trips beyond the walls of the shelter—Homemade Hope empowers vulnerable children and strengthens families in crisis. Homemade Hope’s unique programs aims to create a nurturing and supportive environment where children: • Learn practical cooking skills, allowing them to cook for their families and gain the confidence to apply for restaurant/service industry jobs • Make healthier food options for themselves and their families • Enjoy hands-on, educational experiences that build self-esteem • Receive mentoring and academic support • Celebrate family meals and holidays with parents and strengthen family bonds
