Mission Statement
Through an academically rigorous program grounded in Lakota culture, language, and values, the Pine Ridge Girls’ School aims to empower the young women of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation by fostering self-respect, a love of learning, and leadership qualities to help them serve and shape their world.
About This Cause
We are the first and only independent, college-prep, Lakota-based girls' school on a Native reservation in America. We are breaking new ground in empowering educational methodology, reaching the most underserved community in the country and preparing them, thought a combination of Lakota spiritual practice and rigorous western education, for college. As we instill a sense of personal and cultural pride as well as academic competence, we are educating a new class of future leaders and scholars, who will serve both their community and the world beyond.
