Mission Statement
Planet Bee Foundation is a nonprofit on a mission to change the world - one bee and one student at a time! We are dedicated to creating a green-minded generation through environmental stewardship, using the teaching lens of the struggling honey bee and the power of individual action. We work with schools and nonprofits - at no cost - to build long lasting care of the struggling bee population and the environment by presenting hands-on, educational workshops on location. About This Cause
We need bees and they need help! Bees and other pollinators are responsible for 1 out of every 3 bites that we eat, making them crucial to our health as well as to the health of our precious planet. Alarmingly, almost half of the managed honey bee hives in the U.S. die each year and 1 out of 4 native bee species in North America are at risk of extinction. As society constantly faces new and extreme challenges in the modern world, we need the next generation of leaders to learn the importance of science now more than ever! STEM learning is necessary for the survival of a healthy society and planet, which is why Planet Bee Foundation focuses on the tangible issue of bee decline, as a launchpad into the increasingly important world of STEM education and environmentalism. Over 90% of our programs are given at no cost to high-needs schools. We are deeply committed to social justice and therefore offer sliding scale fees. Need-based scholarships are also available, courtesy of our sponsors and partners. Planet Bee has seen over 25,000 students for low or no cost, since receiving our 501(c)3 status in 2015. We teach STEM lessons about bee behavior, biology, and conservation. We utilize citizen science and engage many with our hands-on programs at community events. We host corporate team-building events that align with the green initiatives of local businesses. Our engaging activities bring awareness to the plight of the bee, therefore empowering people to help the environment as a whole!
