Mission Statement

The Hypersomnia Foundation strives to improve the lives of people with idiopathic hypersomnia and related disorders by advocating on their behalf, providing support, educating the public and healthcare professionals, raising awareness, and funding research into effective treatments, better diagnostic tools, and, ultimately, cures for these debilitating conditions.

About This Cause

The Hypersomnia Foundation, Inc. (HF), was established in the state of Georgia in 2014, received IRS 501(c)3 determination later that same year, and is an all-volunteer organization. 100% of donated money supports its mission. The present understanding of the causes, symptoms and number of people who have hypersomnia is limited, but the stigma, financial and social impact of a disorder that include symptoms of excessive sleepiness, sleep inertia and brain fog are extensive. At this time the primary goals and focus of the Hypersomnia Foundation, therefore, are to educate, advocate and provide resources for people with hypersomnia, their supporters and healthcare providers around the world.
