About This Cause
The Family Restored (TFR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Portland, Maine that assists families and individuals affected by addiction. For families, TFR provides Addict in the Family support meetings to help families understand and cope with a loved one's addiction. Facilitated by recovered addicts and alcoholics, who offer a unique perspective, they seek to educate, inform and inspire hope for families. The support meetings provide a community where family members can voice their concerns, frustrations, struggles, successes and hope in a non-judgmental environment. For the addicted person, TRF provides financial assistance to individuals seeking access to drug treatment and/or sober housing in order to restore their health. TFR operates the only non-profit sober living house in Portland for women coping with addiction. The home provides a safe and welcoming transitional environment for women coming out of treatment who are seeking healthy and supportive conditions to sustain their recovery. A primary goal for opening the house is to give women, pzrticlulary those who are indigent or have been incarcerated, an opportunity to access quality care and support they would bot otherwise receive.
