Mission Statement
Educate America Right Now, Inc., provides interactive community and merit-based financial support to hardworking adult learners who are returning to college to earn their first degree.
About This Cause
Educate America Right Now, Inc. (EARN) is a small non-profit that provides powerful merit-based support for adult learners returning to college to obtain their first college degree. For many adults, community college is the first step on the path towards a four year degree and a better life for themselves and for their families. It can also be intimidating for folks who have been working for many years and who suddenly find themselves back at school with students half their age. At the same time, they are often burdened with work and family obligations. In the words of Dr. Jill Biden, "There are too many Americans who don’t complete their education or training programs not because of a lack of will, but because of other responsibilities they are juggling, such as a job to pay their bills or caring for children. Often these students and their families also face housing and food insecurity." How can we support these courageous adults who want to provide a better life for their families and children? Through your donation you will help us to provide these four essential pillars for success: 1. We supply merit-based “EARN Scholar Grants” based on the student's grade point average (GPA). The higher the level of achievement, the larger the grant. This encourages academic excellence. EARN Scholars tend to maintain exceptional grades, which in turn makes them highly qualified for employment. Adult students use this money in the manner that they most need: To pay for tuition and supplies, and to support their families, their children, and themselves as they work towards their first degree. 2. We offer subject tutoring on request. If an EARN Scholar is struggling in a subject we will do our best to pair them with highly competent tutors at no charge. 3. We hold EARN Scholar Ceremonies on campus or vitually each semester to celebrate the high level of student achievement that we see from our EARN Scholars. 4. We run a forum where adult students support each other, and share their struggles, their hopes, and their dreams. In this way, they help each other to stay accountable. One recipient used his Grants to move out of a shelter. He completed his Associate Degree. A Westchester NY police officer returned to school to show his son the value of college. He completed his degree and is now a Criminal Justice major at Wilmington University. One of our Scholars, a recently naturalized citizen, struggled to work full time while studying and failed to make our GPA cutoff this past semester. He came to the ceremony anyway: “I will see you Wednesday. Honestly the only part (of the semester) I'm excited about is this group. I can’t thank you enough for starting this program. I don’t know about the others but for me its the only thing that keeps me going. I don’t want to disappoint Kirstin (his wife) and I especially don’t want to disappoint EARN. You guys took a chance on me and I want to succeed.” He recently completed fifteen credits with a perfect 4.0 GPA. EARN Scholars study such diverse majors as Pre-med, Nutrition, Business Management and Administration, Visual Arts, and Cybersecurity. One of our recent graduates had to stop working construction because of an accident to his hands. By returning to school he discovered a passion and talent for mathematics. In his last semester he earned an "A" in both calculus and in physics! Our multi-tiered support is completely scalable. The ONLY limit to the number of EARN Scholars we can accept is our funding. You can make a tangible, real difference to our American workforce through your donation. Because we are a non-compensated Board of Directors, we are able to channel almost 90% of every donation dollar directly into our EARN Scholar Program. Please consider Educate America Right Now, Inc. for a Charitable Donation. I look forward to sharing our vision with you, and would be happy to personally discuss your support of our organization.
