Portland's nonprofit resident herd, offering an oasis of rural community amidst the built, urban environment.
About This Cause
We are a nonprofit that offers access to our herd of 12 goats for visits in Portland, Oregon. We have offered visits for educational value, mental wellness, recreation, and general enjoyment. Our goats are very socialized to humans, and enjoy interacting with them. We have become a neighborhood staple in all of our locations. Our visitors are brand new babies all the way through grandparents. We have visits from schools, local businesses, adult care centers, and more! We do not charge admission, but donations are always accepted and appreciated. We have remained steady for nearly 8 years with the help of donations from community members and local businesses who appreciate what we offer. Our space has been a venue for storytelling, first dates, reunions, peaceful contemplation, childhood firsts, and even a wedding! We love being able to provide a space in a thriving metro area that has the greater purpose of enjoyment, learning, and peacefulness. Our core group of volunteers has also grown since our inception, and we have become a caring, cooperative group of friends and colleagues bonded over a herd of animals, who may never have come together for any other reason otherwise. We love getting to share our goats with Portland, and also with those who just follow along online. People have come from far away to visit our goats, and we are considered one of Portland's best family-friendly attractions.
