Mission Statement

To turn vacant blighted land in Detroit into beautiful and productive landscapes. Neighborhood revitalization from the ground up. To enhance health and healing through nature.

About This Cause

Detroit Abloom is a 501 (c)(3) organization formed in 2015, Initially our mission was to demonstrate how to use cut flower farming as an innovative way to repurpose vacant blighted land in Detroit. We established a comprehensive floral service business and are developing a pollinator-friendly plant nursery to create revenue to cover our operational expenses. Our mission has grown to include building school, butterfly and sanctuary gardens and we are now becoming an outdoor holistic wellness center, offering a wide array of healing modalities to improve the health of the community. We are part of a coalition lead by Beaumont Hospital, called Healthy Communities: Grosse Pointe & Harper Woods. After two years of discussion and research, the coalition believes that the building of gardens throughout the Grosse pointe school district can have an immense effect on raising the health consciousness of the community. Detroit Abloom has been asked to build these gardens with the help of committees in each school. We build one garden for the Triumph Middle School in Harper Woods and then covid 19 struck. We have thus shifted our focus to turning our cut flower farm and sanctuary garden into a wellness center. This season we have offered yoga, meditation, sound, dance and art therapy classes and much more. With the combined wherewithal, faith, resources and vision of a growing number of friends of Detroit Abloom, we envision a bright future for everyone.
