About This Cause
INARA was founded in 2015 by Arwa Damon, CNN’s Senior International Correspondent, after she spent more than a decade witnessing injured children in warzones suffer. INARA is directly based on Arwa’s experiences witnessing children, who were wounded by war or as a result of living as refugees, in need of life-altering medical care fall through the gaps of existing NGO programs. INARA was established to specifically address those gaps, to take on the cases that others don’t and to facilitate access to existing medical care and services. INARA seeks to improve the lives of conflict impacted children and their physical and mental health through financial support and increased access to services. INARA works with affected children who have suffered from physical and mental harm. INARA fully covers and finances beneficiaries’ medical treatment, giving them free of charge healthcare until they are fully healed. Simultaneously, INARA provides case management services and pairs each beneficiary with a case manager who oversees their treatment and provides a support system for the child and family. INARA also provides in-house mental health services to help children cope and process their trauma. Additionally, we respond to crises and emergencies in our areas of operation though a flexible Rapid Response Program (RRP), this enables us to redirect a portion of funding and resources to respond as needed. It was used in response to the COVID-19 pandemic the Beirut blast, Ukraine war, Turkey-Syria Earthquake, and Gaza Crisis. Through these three pillars INARA provides a holistic approach in care for the beneficiaries and their families.
